Endoscopic polypectomy, dilation, stent
These are therapeutic endoscopic procedures performed during gastroscopy or colonoscopy to treat conditions of the gastrointestinal tract without the need for open surgery.
-
Polypectomy involves removal of abnormal tissue growths (polyps).
-
Dilatation is used to widen narrowed areas (strictures).
-
Stent placement keeps narrowed or blocked sections of the bowel or oesophagus open.
These procedures are often performed at the same time as diagnostic endoscopy.
