Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube
A Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube is a feeding tube placed directly into the stomach through the abdominal wall. It is used when a patient is unable to eat or drink safely by mouth for a prolonged period but has a functioning stomach and intestines. PEG tubes provide long-term nutritional support, hydration, and medication delivery.
Common indications include neurological conditions, stroke, head and neck cancers, swallowing disorders, and severe malnutrition.
